Jackson's Baptism

So my beautiful "little" boy (although he's getting to be flippin HUGE!) turned 8 in October! We waited until Thanksgiving to baptize him so more family could be here for it. It was a wonderful, perfect event! Thank you to all those who attended and were able to be here! It was particularly great because we were able to make it a missionary opportunity--Jackson invited our wonderful neighbors Robert and Harriet Peters and his 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Jeanette Askins.

I have such high hopes that Jackson will always remember his decision to get baptized and will learn to appreciate and rely on that special gift of the Holy Ghost that he now has in his life. He's a good boy with such a sweet heart...I know that he will always be blessed if he continues to make good choices like this one throughout his life. Love you Jackson!!

Deep Thoughts on Running

I love to run! Since college, I've run off and on over the years...but since having Casey, I've been able to really push myself with my running. And it's been very exhilarating! Exhilarating to see what I'm capable of doing! This past year has been a particular blast for me, spending 14 weeks of my summer training for a half-marathon that I ran in September. It was a lot of work and very tiring...but it was a great way to spend the summer!

 Half-marathon in Winslow, Arkansas

Woolaroc 8K in Bartlesville, Oklahoma

Only problem with that much running is INJURY! Here I thought I was a healthy, strong 32 year old...and my body started to treat me like it was 60! Injured calf, injured knee...it became quite a bummer to my running high! So I finished out the running season as best I could and now I work out at the YMCA in town. I've discovered cycling and pilates and zumba...and it's a lot of fun! I was once so one-minded in my exercise ("I only run...I'm a runner!"), but now I'm branching out and enjoying it. The thing that I have discovered though, for me, is that there's still nothing like the thrill of the run. Once or twice a week, when I get on that treadmill and actually get to tap back into a good run, there's nothing in the world like it!! It's one of my favorite places to be--that zone of the run.  :)

New Beginnings

Every new year starts with the infamous New Year Resolution. Last year mine was to check my email more regularly...and looking back, I feel that I definitely improved. (I know my friends wish I'd check facebook more often too...but that's a whole other resolution!!) Still on the high from that success, I'm already committing to a resolution for 2012--to blog!! I attempted for the past couple of years, but I'm really going to buckle down and do it this year. So anyone who cares to know what's going on in my life--at least those things I'm willing to share on the Internet--may follow! :)
